IIT student ends life at Hallo Majra - Tribune India

A 19-year-old girl, an IIT student and daughter of a Sub-Inspector (SI) with the CRPF, reportedly committed suicide at her house on the CRPF campus at Hallo Majra on Wednesday evening. 

Sources said the victim had been identified as Vanisha (19), a third-semester student at the IIT, Bombay. Her father is posted in Srinagar.

The victim had gone to the PGI with her mother for a check-up and later on returning home, she committed suicide. The victim’s mother was in the kitchen when she took the extreme step. The police were informed about the incident. 

The victim was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared her brought dead. The autopsy will be conducted on Thursday. The sources said the victim was depressed. The police said no suicide note was found from the spot. 

Inquest proceedings have been initiated by the police at the Sector 31 police station.
