IIT-R student still missing: Haridwar cops - TNN

DEHRADUN: Two days after he fled from the IIT-Rookee hostel leaving behind a 'suicide note', Haridwar police are still looking for the final year BTech student, Ashok Kumar Meena, who is incidentally, the son of Delhi Police inspector Ram Kumar Meena.

Ashok allegedly ran away from his hostel accommodation at IIT-Roorkee on Sunday, leaving behind a note which said: "I am quitting life... I am sorry if my actions hurt anyone." The final year BTech student in Electronics and Communication was last seen in Roorkee and sources said he may be in Haridwar, but the cops are yet to find him.

His father, who is currently posted in Delhi police security, has reached Haridwar to join the search operation.

The matter came to light when chief warden of the prestigious institute, H S Upadhyay, approached the Roorkee police station on Sunday evening and lodged a 'missing' complaint.

Ashok was reportedly due to submit a presentation in college. Haridwar police said this wasn't the first time that presentation-induced fear had made him flee.
