IIT Topper From Hyderabad Found Dead At US University, Suicide Suspected

HYDERABAD: An IIT topper from Hyderabad, who was studying for a Master's degree at the North Carolina State University in Raleigh City of United States, has reportedly committed suicide.
Shiva Kiran, 25, was found hanging in his hostel room. He was said to have been depressed with his grades in the first semester exams of the MS course he was studying for. Mr Kiran shared the room with two other students, both Chinese.
No suicide note was reportedly found but the student had withdrawn the fees he had paid for the second semester. He had told his family he wanted to come home and prepare well for the next semester.
"We got a phone call from officials of Telugu Association of North America (TANA) who informed that he was found hanging in his hostel room," the IIT graduate's uncle said, according to the Press Trust of India. "We are awaiting more information and clarity," the news agency quoted him as having said.
Mr Kiran had reportedly topped the Engineering course he completed at IIT Hyderabad and left for the US for higher studies in August 2015. The family is waiting for the body to be brought home. His father is a pharmacist working with the government in Hyderabad.
