Kumar, student of class 11, had got admitted to an institute in Kota, considered the coaching capital of India, in April this year to prepare for IIT-JEE.
As per the note found in his room, the pressure of studies appears to be the reason behind suicide, the circle inspector said.
“Before coming to Kota, I did not know that preparing for IIT-JEE would be so tough. After arriving here, I found that cracking IIT-JEE is a hard task to achieve,” Kumar wrote in the note.
The mentioned that he could score only 20% to 40% marks in the internal tests at the coaching institute, which was not enough for IIT-JEE.
“I tried to commit suicide several times in the past, but it is a difficult thing to do. However, this time I will succeed,” the note read.
Around 1.50 lakh students enrol every year in the 40-odd coaching institutes in Kota to prepare for professional engineering and medical entrance examinations. Seven students had committed suicide in Kota in 2017, while 16 had ended their lives in 2016.
