MUMBAI: A third year chemical engineering student from IIT Bombay, was found dead on campus on Saturday evening. The body of the student, who was originally from Rohtak, was found on one of the hostel terraces.
Students said that he left a note behind and is believed to have consumed something poisonous. The body was found on the terrace of hostel 15. A student said, "He was active in extra-curricular activities and was coordinating in the functioning of the placement cell in the last semester. He was not doing academically well."
IIT spokesperson said, "Some chemical may be involved but the police is investigating."
This is the second death in less than a year on the campus. In September 2014, Aniket Ambhore, a fourth year student fell to death from the sixth-floor balcony of a hostel on the campus.
