Jaipur: A coaching student committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room in Kota on Wednesday. The student, identified as Amit, had come to Kota to prepare for IIT-JEE from his native place in Biher nearly two months ago. The police have informed the family members and said that they are waiting for them to arrive. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in their presence.

The incident took place in Mahaveer Nagar area of the coaching city. Amit was a resident of Madhubani in Bihar. Amit was 16-year-old and was staying in a paying guest facility in Mahaveer Nagar area. According to preliminary reports, he committed suicide under pressure of studies. The police however said that what caused him to take the extreme step is yet to be determined. It was yet unclear whether the police recovered a suicide note from the spot.

A police team was rushed to the hostel on getting information about the incident. The police got the body down and rushed it to the mortuary of a hospital for post-mortem examination.

“We will record statements of his teachers and other students to determine why he committed suicide. The family members are yet to arrive. Further investigation is going on,” said a police officer.
