KANPUR: The relatives of Madhuri Sale have held IIT-Kanpur responsible for her untimely death. They have decided to lodge an FIR against the authorities of the institute in this regard.
With teary eyes, Madhuri's younger brother Bharat Sale, said in an emotional outburst that he will get an FIR lodged against the IIT authorities who forced her to commit suicide.
"I will get an FIR registered against IIT-Kanpur authorities because of whom my sister embraced death," Bharat said while autopsy was being conducted at the mortuary. He is pursuing BTech from Osmania University in Hyderabad.
Bharat asked how can his sister commit suicide when she was doing well in her course. "We do not know why she committed suicide. Something is wrong somewhere and it has to be brought out. I want police to conduct a fair inquiry into the matter to ascertain the cause of death of my sister," he said.
Autopsy was conducted in the presence of Madhuri's maternal uncle S Ravi, cousin brother Prasanth and Bharat.
The autopsy report confirmed that Madhuri died due to strangulation, when she hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her hostel room on Wednesday.
The family members had requested that the autopsy be conducted in their presence. Hence, the body was preserved at the institute's health centre.
The body has been handed over to the family members. They will fly back home in Nalgonda, where the last rites will be performed.
