KANPUR: The staff, faculty and the students of Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur, paid condolence to Madhuri Sale, the final year BTech student, here on Monday evening.
A two-minute silence was maintained on the occasion to pay homage to the departed soul. The fellow colleagues and the close friends of Madhuri gathered at the basketball court of the girl's hostel-1 and paid her homage with teary eyes. They were sad that their friend is no more now. Director, IIT-Kanpur, SG Dhande also paid tributes to Sale during the condolence meet.
Madhuri Sale, a student of IIT-Kanpur, had committed suicide on November 17 in her hostel room. Though the reason why she killed herself is yet to be known, academic pressure is not being ruled out.
