Kanpur (IANS): Apparently depressed over the denial of a campus placement, a 26-year-old student of the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) committed suicide on Saturday, police and institute officials said.
"G. Suman, a final year student of M.Tech, was found hanging inside his hostel room," director IIT-K Sanjay Dhande told IANS.

"We have learnt that Suman was quite upset as he did not get any placement offer from the companies that visited the campus this time," police inspector Alakh Narayan Trivedi told IANS.
Suman hailed from Andhra Pradesh. His family in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh has been intimated. His father G. Bhaskariyya is expected to come to Kanpur Sunday, according to the officials.
